"Be Cool" Program

"Be Cool" is a violence prevention curriculum which has been implemented in the Escanaba Schools and is taught in the classrooms (K-12) by the district’s social workers, nurses and health teachers.

"Be Cool" teaches our students positive ways to cope with criticism, bullying, teasing and anger in every day situations by using educational videos, work sheets, and role plays.

"Be Cool" uses icons to teach students the "cool" (assertive), "hot" (aggressive) or "cold" (passive) responses to situations and how each response affects them/situation either positively or negatively. It is our hope that through the "Be Cool" program our students will learn respect for themselves and others and thus create a safer school and community environment for all.

Notice: EAPS counselors and social workers can provide assistance but should not take the place of services provided by your family physician or mental health facility.
